Choose the right duvet for you
Choosing the ideal comforter for you or your child can be a difficult decision: the conditions must be just right for a soothed sleep at the right temperature. Today's market offers a vast choice that could confuse you or make you hesitate to find what you're looking for.
At Kadolis, we offer comforters for all ages that will improve the quality of your sleep. Comforters that regulate temperature to ensure you sleep neither too hot nor too cold.
To make the right choice, it's important to pay attention to several criteria: weight, filling, comforter cover, the properties of the materials it's made of and its weight.
Here's what you need to consider when choosing your comforter:
The comforter's weight
The weight corresponds to the density of a comforter's filling, i.e. its weight on a given surface, and is measured in g/m².
For Kadolis comforters, we have 3 different weight:
- The light comforter, with a weight of 100g/m².
- The temperate comforter (especially for babies) with a weight of 150g/m².
- The 4 seasons comforter with a weight of 300g/m².
How to choose a comforter according to room temperature
Bedroom temperature helps you choose the right comforter, but don't overlook other factors that can also play an important role in how you or your child sleeps, such as how it feels (if you're more chilly), or where you live.
However, if you can't decide, here are a few guidelines:
If the room is heated to 22°C or more, a light comforter (100g/m²) is sufficient, otherwise if the room is between 16°C and 21°C, we recommend a 4-season comforter with a weight of 300g/m².
For babies, we only have the tempered warmth index in accordance with standard NF EN 16779-1, which specifies the safety requirements for baby comforters and determines sufficient warmth for a baby's sleep up to 36 months.
The ideal comforter filling
There are two types of filling: natural and synthetic.
At Kadolis, you'll find both types of filling:
- Natural filling with the Lanai down and feather comforter, which is made from duck down and provides warmth and lightness, but is more difficult to maintain as it is not machine-washable.
- Synthetic filling in recycled polyester fiber: with our 2 comforters Maui Enveloppe Coton Bio and Hawi Enveloppe Tencel et Coton Bio.
In these two comforters, we've opted for an Ecolabel Hollofil ECO polyester fiber filling from Dacron. These comforters offer better value for money, are machine-washable and have natural covers (organic cotton and Lyocell Tencel).
Size guide :
Your comforter needs to fit your bed, so it's not too small or too low on the sides. Follow our size guide to find the ideal comforter for your bed.
For babies over 12 months, a 75x120 cm comforter is ideal for a 60x120 cm bed, while a 100x140 cm duvet is best suited to a 70x140 cm bed.
For a children's or single bed, we recommend a 140x200 cm comforter for sizes 90x190, 80x200 or 90x200. On the other hand, a 140x150cm comforter is ideal for a 90x140 cot.
For 2-person beds, the choice is between a 200x200cm, 220x240cm or 240x260cm comforter.
A 140x190cm or 140x200 cm bed can easily be covered with a 200x200 cm comforter for an even-edged effect, or with a 220x240 cm duvet if you want to have fallout on both sides, or if you or your partner's sleep is a little restless.
For larger beds (160x200 , 180x200 or King size), you can choose a 240x260cm or 220x240 cm comforter, which will be ideal for your sleeping arrangements.
Choosing a duvet according to age
We remind you that for babies under 1 year of age, it is not advisable to use a comforter or blanket, preferring the sleeping bag for a secure sleep.
For children over 1 year old
Children sweat a lot during their sleep. Who hasn't found their child with soaked hair in the early morning or after a nap? That's why it's essential to choose a comforter that regulates temperature naturally.
Kadolis has designed comforters with a filling of DACRON® HOLLOFIL® Eco recycled polyester fiber, an Ecolabel-certified ecological fiber, with an organic cotton cover that offers softness and lightness, so you can sleep like a cloud. Available in a light version with a 100g/m² filling, and a 4-season version with a 300g/m² filling.
For the Hawi comforter Enveloppe TENCEL™ et coton Bio, this one has all the benefits of Tencel which is a natural fiber allowing excellent temperature regulation. This makes the Hawi comforter ideal for children who perspire at night. It's also available in a light version with a 100g/m² filling, and a 4-season version with a 300g/m² filling.
And last but not least, for feather lovers and especially for those with a chill, discover the authenticity of the down and feather comforter, a light comforter with a filling of 90% Pyrenean duck down and 10% small Pyrenean duck feather. It has a weight of 150g/m2 (with a 4-season warmth index) and an ultra-soft 100% Cotton Percale cover.
For adults
The choice of comforter for adults is quite different, as everyone has their own feelings and habits. We therefore advise you to choose your comforter primarily according to the degree of warmth you like.
The Maui organic cotton comforter and the Tencel and Hawi organic cotton comforter both have 2 levels of warmth: the light (100g/m²) and the 4-season (300g/m²). The light comforters are more suitable for use in late spring and summer, while the 4-season duvet is very comfortable and provides the right temperature for the rest of the year.
A little hint for couples
If your other half is more chilly, or vice versa, and you disagree about sleeping temperature, Kadolis offers an innovative solution: the Toi et Moi Enveloppe Tencel Coton bio comforter, which has one side with a 150g/m² filling for people who don't like to be too hot when they sleep, and one side with a 350g/m² filling for chilly people.
The Toi et Moi comforter isn't detachable and fits like a normal comforter, and comes in sizes: 220x240cm and 240x260cm to suit your double bed.
A simple, practical solution for two people to sleep under one comforter, even if their needs are different.
